Kimmel International (KI), a Sidney Kimmel Entertainment company, was founded in 2005 as an international sales company for feature film projects. KI oversees the international licensing, marketing and distribution of Sidney Kimmel Entertainment (SKE) film properties, and also acts as an international sales agent for feature film projects from third-party producers. In 2009, Kimmel International forged an alliance with Sierra Pictures, headed by Nick Meyer, former President of Paramount Vantage. Sierra Pictures is now handling all the sales, delivery and technical servicing for existing Kimmel International titles and will be handling future projects from Sidney Kimmel Entertainment. Kimmel International & Sierra Pictures are now headquartered in Los Angeles and also operates from offices in New York.
Sidney Kimmel Entertainment (SKE), Veteran producer Sidney Kimmel heads Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, the Los Angeles-based, independent production and finance company focused on bringing high profile, quality entertainment projects to contemporary audiences via major studio distribution partners. President Jim Tauber oversees the financing, development and production of the Company’s motion picture slate, as well as sales of its films in the international marketplace. Bingham Ray is SKE’s President of Creative Affairs. SKE has financed and produced, both independently and with studio partners, 18 features since Kimmel founded the Company in 2004. The Company’s most recent releases were “Management,” starring Jennifer Aniston, Steve Zahn and Woody Harrelson, and written and directed by Stephen Belber for The Samuel Goldwyn Company; “Adventureland,” the Greg Mottola-directed critical hit co-financed and co-produced with Miramax; and “Synecdoche, New York,” the directorial debut of Academy Award-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman, for Sony Pictures Classics. SKE’s most recent project is a remake of its 2006 British comedy “Death at a Funeral,” with co-writer/co-producer Chris Rock leading an all-star ensemble cast in the new version for Screen Gems.
Prior SKE feature presentations include such critical successes as Jon Poll's "Charlie Bartlett," starring Anton Yelcin, Robert Downey Jr., and Hope Davis; Frank Oz's "Death at a Funeral," starring Matthew Macfadyen, Peter Dinklage and Ewen Bremner; and Craig Gillespie's "Lars and the Real Girl," starring Ryan Gosling, all released through MGM.
In addition, SKE produced Nick Cassavetes' "Alpha Dog," the controversial film based on the story of Jesse James Hollywood, starring Emile Hirsch, Bruce Willis, Sharon Stone and Justin Timberlake, released by Universal Pictures; and co-financed with Universal Pictures Billy Ray's "Breach," starring Chris Cooper, Ryan Phillippe and Laura Linney. SKE co-financed “The Kite Runner,” directed by Marc Forster and released by Paramount Vantage; Kasi Lemmons' "Talk to Me," starring Don Cheadle and Chiwetel Ejiofor, released by Focus Features; and Ira Sachs' "Married Life," starring Pierce Brosnan Chris Cooper, Patricia Clarkson and Rachel McAdams, released by Sony Pictures Classics. The company also financed, in association with Universal Pictures, the critically acclaimed and Academy Award® nominated "United 93," directed by Paul Greengrass.
